It's been long my friends. I've been busy and Jess has taken the helm for a bit, plus her style is way more on top of it than mine lately. Anyway, I found this video online and thought it was really neat. If you know me, you know I have a soft spot for stop motion. This one is a series of 2700 photos a guy took while he toured across the US. It makes me want to lace up and walk aimlessly. Maybe I'll do one where I dance across the US, or maybe I'll dance across Europe!!!

I don't quite remember why I was at La Cita yet again that night, what the djs were playing inside, or how I started talking to this now-faceless mustached Mexican kid from Silver Lake.  I do remember his jeans and unnecessarily-tedious rolled cigarettes.   And oddly, the next morning (afternoon), the only other thing I remembered about him was his insistence that I check out some line he thought I'd fancy.  Something about "getting gagged" and how, according to him, the line showcased some pretty dope fannies and hoods.  So I did, and I liked what I found.  

Tragically (or perhaps not) I don't remember the name of this kid and probably wouldn't be able to spot him out if we ever crossed paths again... but at least I got a lovely little G.A.G fanny pack out of the encounter....  

Below we dig a little deeper into the attitude/energy that is G.A.G. Threads, and the spunky chick behind it, Gabriela Guzman. 

                

Aegis Apparel:  How did GAG come about?  Tell us about the inspiration behind it and future plans for the line.

Gaby:  When I was around 19, I discovered my love for fashion through drawing decided to move to Miami to study Fashion Design at Miami International University of Art and Design. After earning my AA, I worked for two companies as a graphic artist for t-shirts- it only lasted a  few months before I KNEW working for someone else’s vision was not for me.

Aegis Apparel:  Amen to that.

Gaby:   G.A.G. are my initials.  (When molding the brand), I knew I wanted something fun/funny, with a bit of an attitude.  Something that everyone could relate to. My number one inspiration is the people who surround me DAY to DAY here in Miami and all parts of the world.  It keeps me going.

Aegis Apparel:   What celebrity/personality would you be stoked to see rocking GAG?

Gaby:   MIA needs to rock the G.A.G

Aegis Apparel:  G.A.G seems to have a pretty big following as it is - Why do you think people gravitate toward the line?

Gaby:  I think people gravitate to my line because it has a mind of its own. They relate to it. They find it FUNNY, it has CHARACTER and STYLE. Now, whether they gravitate toward it because they like the idea or MAYBE they really don’t, it has CAUGHT their attention right? That is all that matters to me. It’s a blunt line, what can I say?!  And, as far as the accessories go, each piece is hand-made and one-of-kind.  I mean, could you keep your hands off that?! 

Aegis Apparel:  Let's get inside your head -  leak something most people would never guess about you?

Gaby:  I was prom queen..  shhh.. I know.

Aegis Apparel:  In-terrr-esting....

Aegis Apparel:  Pick one: sex/music/love/money

Gaby:  Just oneee???

Aegis Apparel:  Share with us Angelenos some of your favorite spots in Miami  - what's the music/art/fashion scene like out there?

Gaby:  My all time favorite spot in Miami is without a doubt, LINCOLN RD in South beach. It’s the best place to people watch and trust me you see some interesting situations; I could spend everyday there. Art, fashion, music and culture is on every corner, I love it!
